How often does Story meet?
Story meets once a month as a support group for those who have fostered and/or adopted, as well as those interested in learning more. Periodically throughout the year, we host Foster Parent Training classes.
What is the cost to attend Story events?
Nothing. Story does not charge for its events, activities or resources.
Is childcare provided for Story events?
Yes! Childcare is available at no cost. Please contact us at least 48 hours in advance of the event. Contact us at: infostoryproject@gmail.com
Is Story only for those who have adopted internationally?
No. Story is for anyone connected to adoption or foster care. Some of our families have adopted internationally while others have adopted domestically. Some have adopted older children while others have adopted newborns. In addition, many Story families are fostering or fostering-to-adopt and many have adopted children from foster care. The Story community of families is incredibly diverse. If you have adopted or are fostering (or exploring these life changing adventures) then Story is definitely for you.
Is Story an adoption or foster care agency?
Story is not a child-placing agency and does not place children for adoption or into foster homes.
Does Story recommend adoption or foster care agencies?
Story does not recommend or refer adoption or foster care agencies, but we have created some helpful tools to assist you in selecting a domestic/infant, international or foster care/adopt agency. We also maintain a list of agencies that Story families have used or are using. If you have any questions about selecting an agency or just want to talk about this important step in the adoption or foster care journey, contact us at storyprojecthouston@gmail.com
Can we get involved in Story even though we have not yet adopted?
Absolutely! We have many great opportunities to get involved while you are waiting or considering your options to help you make your wait worthwhile.
